RIDI Lighting’s HRL Pendant is the chosen luminaire for a series of newly refurbished ALDI store concepts across the South West of England. The key element in an uncomplicated lighting scheme, the HRL’s combination of excellent build quality, good aesthetics and high-performance make it well-suited to a tough, demanding retail environment.

Headquartered in Germany , ALDI is a discount supermarket chain with an ambitious UK investment and development programme. It has opened stores across the UK - many in the South West of England through acquisition - and its simple, efficient and professional approach to business is reflected in its store designs. Each refurbishment project is fast-track and equipment manufacturers need to supply products quickly to order. To meet the needs of this demanding programme, RIDI has tailored a customer service program which entails keeping a large reserve stock of HRLs at its new expanded headquarters and warehouse in the UK as well as a fast-track replacement scheme.

Mike Attard, Managing Director, RIDI Lighting UK explains: “A year ago we would not have been able to accommodate a stock holding system that a project of this nature required - without compromising service levels to other customers. However, since we moved into our new purpose-built premises last year, our greatly increased warehouse capacity has boosted our distribution and service capabilities to the extent that we can take on a project like this. In fact, the ALDI store programme is a great example of how our UK logistics operation has significantly improved. In addition we now have a dedicated in house service team to support such projects on site.”
