RIDI
FITS THE BILL FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK
The energy efficient
lighting scheme at the recently refurbished UK headquarters of Cancer
Research features over 200 luminaires from RIDI's economical and
elegantly designed AIDA range.
The Regents Park-situated
building presented a number of lighting design challenges to project
architect David Beattie Associates. In particular, any lighting
solution would not only have to satisfy the lighting needs of the
building users, but also conform to the restrictions laid down by
Crown Estates, the building owner. The residential status of the
building permitted no ceiling mounted office-type luminaires, so
the solution developed by David Beattie in partnership with RIDI,
uses a combination of AIDA luminaires in floor standing and wall
mounted options throughout the five-storey building.

"We had a
requirement for a luminaire that was competitively priced, good
looking and reliable," said David Beattie, of David Beattie
Associates. "The previous lighting scheme had been particularly
dour, but I was already familiar with the RIDI's AIDA from many
previous projects, so I knew that it was the luminaire that could
best integrate with the building interior whilst creating a pleasant
working environment for the Cancer Research employees."
The AIDA luminaires
were supplied by RIDI in a variety of configurations. Finished in
both white and titanium grey, the AIDA-S floor-standing luminaire
offers wide light distribution and solid steel construction, that
gives the luminaire perfect stability and the ideal performance
characteristics for a busy office environment.
