RIDI PASSES THE ‘TEST’ AT DERBYSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB

The build quality and performance benefits of RIDI Lighting’s ABR-SPORT range of luminaires is being perfectly demonstrated at a groundbreaking new indoor cricket coaching centre at Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

Built by Bowmer & Kirkland, the £4.2m ‘Gateway Project’ has been developed by a partnership of Derbyshire County Cricket Club and the Derwent Community Team. The Centre incorporating a general-purpose sports hall and a cricket academy licensed by the English Cricket Board, it is hoped the Centre will nurture the talent of young Derbyshire cricketers. Building services engineer Buro Happold’s London office chose RIDI’s ABR-SPORT luminaires as the luminaire design comfortably met the demanding specification and performance requirements for indoor cricket, as well as other sports.

The ABR-SPORT is fitted with a specially manufactured white steel reinforced, crossblade louvre, that complies with DIN 18032 Part3 - a German sports hall lighting standard for which there is no UK equivalent. This standard includes full ball impact testing to destruction and was therefore the perfect solution for this type of application. Designed and positioned to achieve optimum light levels, over 200 twin-lamp ABR-SPORT luminaires have been installed in six continuous suspended runs above the cricket nets.

Manufactured at RIDI’s headquarters in Germany , the ABR range is manufactured with in steel and has a high-grade scratchproof white paint finish. Kits are available for a dedicated pre-wired trunking system that can be cambered to suit particular sport applications. All variations are supplied complete with integral high-frequency control gear with the option of a 3-hour integral emergency facility.
