Hayes
Community Campus
Uxbridge College, Middlesex
Redevelopment
of the Hayes Campus for Uxbridge College
The whole campus was transformed by the provision of a new entrance
foyer located between an existing block and a new three storey
building containing a learning resource centre and refectory.
The existing accommodation was extensively refurbished and houses
a performing arts centre.
Some
500 RIDI luminaires were specified by Building Services Consultancy,
Michael Jones Associates of Reigate in Surrey. The main lighting
was provided by RIDI's VL LINEA pre-wired lighting/trunking system
that was used to provide suspended direct/indirect lighting. The
advantages of this system lay in the speed of installation and
its exceptional value for money. In addition to this the pre-wired
system has the facility to be altered and re-configured in the
event of any further partitioning of the rooms. The system provided
Architects, Ash Design, with an affordable Architectural lighting
system that was deemed appropriate for the style of building.
A
variation of category 2 and white louvred recessed luminaires
were used throughout the suspended ceilings in both the new and
original building.
The
project was developed in partnership with the London Borough of
Hillingdon and includes a day care facility and youth centre.
