Autohaus Fischer, Landau

The history of FISCHER Automobiles began over 40 years ago. Today, the company boasts a sales area over 10,000 square metres in four locations, and a team of over 100 staff. At the Landau branch, vehicles from Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Mitsubishi are on display under RIDI LED lighting. RLS1-LED high bay reflector luminaires in silver provide blanket illumination for the high sales hall. The individual light points reflect in the highly polished bodywork and set glistening accents.

Tafelladen, Tübingen

The Tübinger Tafel (Tübingen Food Bank) has made it its mission to collect surplus food and food waste, and to give this to people in need. Established in 1998, the food bank is run today by around 130 voluntary workers and has become an integral part of Tübingen’s cityscape. Over time the old premises on Katharinenstrasse became too small and the association saw the need to act, as more and more residents from Tübingen and the region started using the service. After a three-year search for bigger spaces, management found somewhere near Tübingen’s railway freight depot. As a non-profit association, the food bank is reliant on donations and sponsors, and this was also the case when it came to converting the new premises for the Tübinger Tafel. “When we were planning the new location, I tried to rely on handymen and manufacturers from the surrounding region as much as possible,” says Gottfried Esslinger, deputy chairman of the Tübinger Tafel. “That’s why I got in touch with your executive board, who responded right away and registered their interest.” Planning began immediately after an initial meeting had taken place, in which RIDI Leuchten GmbH, together with the management of the food bank, planned the installation of the lighting in the food bank’s new location and then implemented it. Donations included several FPL LED recessed luminaires for the large storage rooms as well as swivelling FROGG recessed downlights for accented lighting. “The generous support in terms of the provision of the lighting is an important contribution to the interior design of the Tübinger Tafel’s new location,” says Esslinger. “I want to say a massive thank you again to RIDI Leuchten for providing our lights.”

Mediterranean market hall, Krefeld

Encompassing a total area of 11,500 square meters, the new Real Market Hall in Krefeld which opened at the end of 2016 is a world away from the conventional stores of the Real supermarket chain. This new market hall is designed with food lovers in mind, offering scope for culinary discovery by browsing a large number of small specialist stalls reminiscent of a traditional market hall. The lighting emphasizes the individuality and hand-crafted feel of the separate sales stalls. While the market stalls use functional lighting based on spotlight systems, areas such as the serving counters were given a decorative lighting system using individually selected pendants. To optically tone down and break up the enormous length of the main thoroughfares, a classification system was introduced to aid orientation. Here, the RIDI LINIA continuous lighting system was used. The continuous lighting system elements with their LINIA FLAT LED gear trays run at a slight incline both on the vertical and horizontal, creating a deliberate overlap of the light lines. The arrangement of the continuous lighting helps to guide shoppers from the entrance area into the market and through to the individual non-food retail departments. Using LUPO spotlights integrated into the continuous lighting system, individual locations can be accentuated. A lighting track spotlight system was chosen for the actual product aisles, as this is the optimum method of illuminating the offered merchandise. Floodlights take care of even background lighting, while the accentuating spots from the LUPO range create individual highlighting as required. General lighting for the refrigerated units is provided by VLDF-F linear luminaires arranged in lighting tracks. While all the other areas of the market are illuminated with a colour temperature of 3000 Kelvin, the refrigerated zone can be recognized from far away by its colour temperature of 5000 Kelvin, further simplifying orientation around this vast retail space. In the cosmetic area, star-shaped lighting tracks are arranged fanning out from the service counters which are fitted with spotlights to illuminate every area of the freely arranged and highly compartmented cosmetics displays. In the fashion area, LUPO and KARO spotlights arranged in lighting tracks provide accentuated lighting as required.

Daniel’s Flower Studio, Illingen

A continuous power rail, on which the KARO LED spotlights can be positioned anywhere along the length of the room and aligned with pinpoint accuracy, is installed to provide accented illumination of shelves and display cabinets. The KARO can be rotated around 360° and swivelled around 135°. This spotlight, equipped with lenses, is therefore able to reach every corner and every object. Glare-free general illumination is required for the working and display cabinet area. The transparency of the Iris LED ring light emphasises the clear interior design and the fresh colour concept of the sales area. The microprismatic ring disc ensures glare-free light. Its indirect light brightens the ceiling and creates an interesting effect for a perfectly light and airy overall appearance.

Robins & Day Peugeot Dealership, Godalming (England)

As part of Peugeot UK‘s refurbishment program to modernise its dealership network, the old Stag Hill Motors site in Godalming, Surrey is the first to benefit from a major refit. The showroom is lit mainly with EDLR downlighters with VENICE system aluminium luminaires used to highlight desks and customer spaces. A square configuration in warm white helps make the customer seating zone a relaxing and cosy place to sit.

LP12 Mall of Berlin, Berlin

The Mall of Berlin has been built on Berlin‘s historic Leipziger Platz. The developer has succeeded in capturing the flair of bygone days, linking an age-old shopping tradition with the generous expanse of a modern mall featuring over 270 shops and Germany’s biggest food court. The unique character of this special project called for an out-of-the-ordinary lighting solution. All the traffic zones, staircases, lift systems, corridors and public areas of the food court are illuminated by luminaires from the RIDI Group ranges. Most of these are project-specific bespoke solutions: Just under 4.5 kilometres of LED cove lighting with internally developed and produced LED modules, more than 3500 LED downlighters for basic lighting in the Mall areas and above the escalators, as well as contemporary Stora surface-mounted luminaires in front of the lifts. In marked contrast, the entrance area is lit by bespoke vintage-look luminaires.

Consumo Laureles, Medellin (Colombia)

Medellin is Colombia’s second biggest city after the capital Bogotá. In the centre of this metropolis is the “Consumo Laureles“ supermarket, which has been equipped with various continuous lighting system components. Due to the given mounting height, particularly narrow beam reflectors made of high-efficiency aluminium were used. The VIM modules with integrated lighting track are used for the simple insertion and flexible positioning of spots.

Ultra Bryn, Oslo (Norwegen)

The Ultra Bryn food market is part of the contemporary Bryn Senter shopping centre in Oslo. It was opened as one of the biggest food stores in 2010 and was among the first to use the Ultra concept. The RIDI LINIA continuous lighting system offers maximum flexibility here. Alongside standard continuous lighting runs, constructs were also implemented which form a large-area network connected by junction points. Variably positioned modular inserts with lighting tracks enable the use of spotlights for more precise lighting accentuation.

B2 Health Food Shop, Rottweil

Food presentation in the food sector imposes a variety of demands on the lighting system used. A basic framework made of lighting tracks permits individual and variable arrangement of luminaires. The VLML gear trays of the LINIA continuous lighting system provide pleasant mild background lighting, while spotlights (here the DOMINO) serve to accentuate. Above the chest freezers are HRL display lights.

BayWa DIY and Garden Centre, Aschaffenburg

In the sales and exhibition showrooms, an energy-efficient lighting system was installed with daylight control. This also offers optimum emergency lighting operation by adjusting output to the requirements of the safety lighting. An eye catching attraction of the DIY market lighting concept is the square arrangement of the continuous lighting elements and position of the constructs in the room. The transparent plastic reflector enables even light distribution with an indirect component. In the garden centre, the continuous lighting elements are conventionally arranged on parallel support rails.

Weber Baustoffzentrum, Diedorf

In the generous showroom, direct/indirect beam H-LINE continuous luminaire runs with a specular mirror louvre are used. For direct sales promotional accentuated lighting, TANGO series spotlights have been placed on 3-phase lighting tracks in the continuous lighting run. In other areas, gimbal-mounted downlighters have been implemented in a recessed ceiling mounted variant. The corridors are punctuated by accentuating LED wall luminaires integrated close to the floor.

La Villa – Contemporary furnishing showroom (Karlsruhe)

Light planners called in to supervise conversion of the premises into a shop for elegant contemporary furniture were instructed to find a lighting solution to accentuate items featured in the showroom using directed lighting. With the aid of DOMINO 07/13 HIT 35 F-SI lighting track spotlights, the light planners succeeded in creating a general lighting ambience combined effectively with accentuated direct lighting using a single luminaire type.
